1.How to measure your door properly:
The barn door you choose needs to be slightly larger than your existing door opening, so it covers the entryway. If your doorway doesn't have a trim, measure the width of the inside of your door frame from left to right. Add at least 1” or 2" inches to this measurement.
If your doorway does have a trim, measure the width of the door frame from one edge of the trim to the other. Again, add at least 1” or 2” inches.
To measure the height of your door, you will need to measure from the floor to the top of your door frame. Add at least 1” or 2” to this measurement. If you have a door casing, you will need to measure to the top edge of your door casing. Once you have the final high of your barn door, subtract .5” to allow the barn to have the proper floor clearance.
Note: In order for your barn door to be appropriately placed on the track, you will need at least 6” of space clearance between the top of your barn door to your ceiling.
2.How long Should My Barn Door Hardware Track Be?
Your track size should be at least double the size of your door range; this will ensure that the door will fully uncover the entrance when open.
3.Barn door tackle track dimension illustration
In this illustration, the door is 32" wide. For the door to cover the entrance when closed, we need to ensure the track is at least double the door size 32"+ 32" = 64".
Note Make sure you have enough wall space on the side of the opening for the door to open fully.
